A seventh-generation native of Washington DC, Mike began his maritime career as a deckhand on the Spirit of Washington, a 600-passenger dinner cruise boat on the Potomac River. At age 19, he became the company’s youngest captain. Mike later moved into the towing industry, eventually joining TradeWinds as an AB. After working just over a year on deck, he made his way back into the wheelhouse as mate.
Seeking new experiences, Mike left TradeWinds to work on the East Coast, operating inland and coastal tugs. However, when TradeWinds began expanding its operations, Mike was lured back to be Port Captain. Mike lives in the New Orleans area with his wife, Mary, and daughter, Ruby and nephew Alex.
