Elsbeth Smith

A legend within the towing industry, Elsbeth raised and homeschooled her five children on the various tugs upon which she sailed. She was one of the first women in the industry to obtain her towing license and stood watch, cooked and cleaned, chipped and painted, managed the crew, cared for her children and still managed to find time to play the piano on board. She spent nearly thirty years of her career at sea. She always had faith in Dominique and Rachel’s abilities when the idea of starting a tugboat company out of nothing seemed a near impossibility. She has continuously provided moral support, financial support and invaluable advice to TradeWinds Towing.
